An overturned lorry caused problems for motorists as the northbound carriageway of a major city road was closed.
The northbound carriageway was closed following the incident this morning.
It happened at the roundabout leading to the Kingstown Industrial Estate in Brunthill Road at about 9.20am.
A statement from Cumbria Police said: "The A689 Carlisle western bypass is now clear after a lorry overturned this morning.
"The incident happened at the roundabout leading to the Kingstown Industrial Estate at Brunthill Road at about 9.20am.
"The driver, a man, 33, was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle. He did not suffer serious injuries.
"Closures were put in place for some time. Officers would like to thank drivers for their patience during any disruption."
