Hours after EDF confirmed plans to build a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point, the project has already been delayed.
The UK Government has postponed a final decision on the £18 billion project until early autumn.
Contracts were due to be signed today following a board meeting at EDF that approved funding for the plan.
Business secretary, Greg Clark, has said that the government will “consider carefully” before supporting the project.
The move could have serious implications for Cumbrian firms that specialise in the nuclear industry that could have seen a significant windfall from the project.
