TED Talks are returning to Whitehaven.
The non-profit organisation, which stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design, is devoted to ‘spreading ideas worth sharing’ through talks of less than 18 minutes that are available to watch on the internet.
Past speakers include Bill Gates and former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
Now, TED has created a programme called TEDx which brings people together on a local level to share a TED-like experience.
Speaking at the event at Whitehaven’s Gaiety cinema on September 7 are Tara Vallente, Sally Fielding, Brian Wernham, Richard Morgan, Andrew Bernhard and Ken Powell.
Sally Fielding, the owner of Sally’s Cottages, said: "I'm really excited to be giving the Tedx Talk. I've used Ted for years for inspiration which has helped me move the business on.
"It's fantastic to be invited to actually speak at an event like this."
