Three guest houses in the Lake District have sold as demand for “staycations” rise.
Fair Rigg Guest House and Melbourne Guest House in Bowness-on-Windermere and Thorneyfield Guest House, Ambleside, had a combined asking price of £1.765m.
The sales were handled by Haydn Spedding, associate director hotels and licensed property, at the Manchester office of Colliers International.
He sees increasing demand for UK holiday property.
Mr Spedding said: “This trio of transactions represents further evidence of the strength of the deals market for hotels and guest houses in the Lake District National Park in what is proving to be a very busy and successful season for operators.
“We have sold a significant number of these properties in 2016 and have a robust pipeline of such deals to see us through the remainder of this calendar year.
“It is evident that the Lake District/Cumbria is benefiting from the so-called ‘staycation’ trend as the cheap pound encourages more people to take their breaks in the United Kingdom.”
The six-bedroom Fair Rigg was sold by Colliers from an asking price of £675,000 to Christine and Richard Shaw who have relocated to Bowness from Ashton-Under-Hill near Evesham.
Melbourne Guest House was sold by from an asking price of £565,000 to Russell and Julie Leese who moved from Alsager near Stoke-on-Trent while Thorneyfield Guest House, on Compston Road, Ambleside, was sold from an asking price of £525,000.
