ONE of the UK's foremost experts on search engine optimisation will be speaking at a Google event in Barrow next month.

The internet giant will lead a ‘digital garage’ at Furness College’s Advanced Manufacturing and Technology Centre, hosted by in-Cumbria.com.

Tickets for the free session on December 1 are being snapped up rapidly with more than half taken already.

Among the speakers is Anthony Gregson, business development manager at SearchQuest Europe, the Lancaster internet marketing agency in the running to be named 'Best Large Search Engine Optimisation Agency' at the UK Search Awards later this month.

He is a specialist in digital marketing with more than 15 years' experience in the industry.

In addition, the commercial law firm Baines Wilson will deliver a briefing on social media and the law, and there will be a chance to quiz Connecting Cumbria on the superfast broadband roll out.

Google staff will run sessions to help businesses build an online presence and grow using digital tools.

Nick Turner, digital strategy manager at CN Group, said: “We ran a similar event at Carlisle Racecourse in July that saw over 150 businesses attend.

“Attendees were given an insight into how to make the most of digital opportunities and we’re looking forward to bringing this event to the business community in Barrow.”
