A family-run holiday company has opened a new office as it seeks to expand the area it serves.

Good Life Lake District Cottages has moved into the facility in Beech Street, Windermere. This is the company's second office, the other is in Elterwater, near Ambleside.

To mark the occasion, the firm's owners have decided to hold a party on election night next week (June 8), to help people enjoy a non-political evening.

Natalie Barker, the firm's operations manager, explained: “We are a local, independent company who enjoy looking after homeowners and holidaymakers. We are growing year-on-year, expanding our collection of fantastic holiday cottages and attracting new customers.

“We are thrilled to move into our new Windermere office and become part of the thriving local business scene.

“The expansion to Windermere also puts us in a prime position to grow the business and attract more holidaymakers.”

The company was set up by a husband and wife duo in 2008 then two years ago it was bought by the present owners, the Ellis family.

It looks after 37 cottages covering an area including Ambleside, Grasmere and Langdal.

"We are looking to grow the area that we have," explained Mrs Barker.

The company's the ‘Good Life Party’ is designed to be and antidote to the General Election.

Guests will vote for their favourite view and will be invited to wear rosettes.

Mrs Barker added: “We are a local company. The business is run by people who live and love the Lake District.

"Opening a new office in Windermere means we can work even more closely with the community and local suppliers.

“We are not only interested to hear from local suppliers and partnership opportunities, but also from owners who have stunning cottages who may consider joining our collection of fantastic holiday cottages.”

The firm employs four full-time staff and one on a part-time basis.

This includes one person who is looking after the Windermere office and Mrs Barker said it would look to employ an assistant to him.

"We would like to work with and build relationships with local businesses in Windermere," she added.

"The event next week is an opportunity for people to join us for a drink."
