Cumbrian accountancy firm Lamont Pridmore has been named the best firm in Britain to be a member of staff.

The company took the best business to work in for title at the National Family Business Awards, having previously taken this home in 2015.

It also took several awards in the regional contest for the north west, including best business to work for (regional), big heart for its contribution to charities and the community and the lifetime achievement award for Graham Lamont, the firm’s chief executive.

The prizes were presented at a ceremony in Wembley Stadium.

These awards was organised by one of the UK’s largest networks of family-run companies, Family Business Place.

The awards were previously known as the Red Ribbon Awards.

Graham Lamont said: “We are delighted to have come away from this fantastic evening with so many trophies.

“We take great pride in being a family run business and we know first-hand the benefits it offers us as a firm, but it is wonderful to have this recognised on a national stage.

“I am particularly flattered to have won the lifetime achievement award and I would like to thank all of my family, my partners and all my colleagues for the ongoing support they have given me.”

Earlier this year the firm - which has offices in Carlisle and has eight offices around Cumbria - produced research with Family Business Place to highlight the strengths of the sector and the future issues it faces.

Chris Lamont, managing director at Lamont Pridmore’s Carlisle office and a partner at the firm, added: “Family businesses play a vital role in the British economy and we have tailored many of our products and services to address their specific business and personal needs.

“Our unique perspective as a family-run firm of accountants means we are able to understand the issues other family businesses face and that business decisions are often complicated by personal relationships. These awards will help us to cement our strong position as one of the UK’s top family practices.”
