A popular Cumbrian cafe has been sold.

The Filling Station, in Crosthwaite Road, Keswick, was put on the market in January by its owner after five years at the helm.

When he put it up for sale, owner Kieron Graham, of Carlisle, said he wanted to return to his original career as an engineer and see the business realise its full potential with new owners.

He said: "My other career was as an industrial engineer and my wife is a teacher in Carlisle, but we’ve been very hands off with the business.

"It’s a great asset but I think it’s time to move back into my original career.

"We just think that it’s been great but it’s time for us to move on and let someone realise The Filling Station’s true potential.”

A tweet on social media network Twitter from the Filling Station official account this afternoon said: "We're handing the reins to someone else. New owners will be tweeting tomorrow. Be gentle with them!"

Mr Graham was not available for comment and it is not known who has taken over the cafe.
