Cumbria's only children's hospice has received a cash boost thanks to a group of young professionals.

More than 90 people attended a networking event organised by Carlisle Futures which saw £1,300 raised for city-based Jigsaw, Cumbria's Children's Hospice.

The event was sponsored by building society The Cumberland and law firm Baines Wilson, which has an office in Carlisle.

Natalie Bingham, corporate fundraiser at Jigsaw, said the money raised would help make a difference to children and young adults with life limiting illnesses in Cumbria.

She said: "The Carlisle Futures event was brilliant evening of fund-raising and we would like to thank everybody who attended and helped organise the event.

"It was great to see so many professionals from different companies coming together to raise a brilliant amount of money in aid of Jigsaw."

Joanne Holborn, partner and head of employment with Baines Wilson added: "With many of our lawyers coming to us from leading city firms, we can offer the same career prospects as some of the best business law firms in the UK.

"We want to let the next generation know that they can realise their professional ambitions with that is on their doorstep."
