If you haven't already heard... BrewDog is opening a new bar in Carlisle.

The craft beer giant is set to take up a spot in Botchergate in the former Victory Amusements building next to the Wetherspoon Woodrow Wilson pub.

Best-known for brewing distinctively-titled drinks such as Punk IPA, Dead Pony Club and 5AM Saint, the brewer also has more than 50 bars worldwide.

It means Botchergate will now feature on its list of locations alongside places such as Barcelona, Brussels and Brazil.

The Carlisle outlet would serve drink and food, with meals including burgers and wings on the menu.

A spokeswoman for BrewDog said: "Carlisle has been in our sights for a long time.

"We have many passionate fans from Carlisle and they have been very vocal with their calls for a BrewDog outpost in the Great Border City.

"We’ve scouted the city for years and recently came upon a great location on Botchergate that puts us bang in the centre of the city."

She said the firm would collaborate with craft breweries across Cumbria.

"This bar is going to be one Scottish invasion the people of Carlisle will welcome," said the spokeswoman.

In a statement on their website, BrewDog said: "Recently we discovered the perfect location to serve up delicious beers and tasty food to the good people of Carlisle.

"Just seconds from the train station, it will be the ultimate spot to relax after a long day travelling."

BrewDog has more than 35 bars across the UK, as well as in cities such as Berlin, Florence and Stockholm.

The brand now has more than 1,000 employees in its brewing and retail operations.
