They’ll be swapping legal documents for maps as they head from The Swinside Inn to Buttermere and back on Saturday June 25.

The office workers are training for the event every weekend to make sure they’re up for the challenge which is 16.1 miles (25.9 kilometres) long and tackles 6,709 feet (2,045 metres) in height.

It’s the third charitable event the law firm has taken part in this year. They’ve already raised more than £5,000 for Cumbria Community Foundation through a black-tie dinner ‘Kitchen Rivals’ and by sleeping under the stars for the ‘Big Sleep’.

John Wilson, partner and head of commercial law at Baines Wilson, said: “Our staff are very driven and motivated, so we’re confident they’ll be ready for the challenge of climbing ten mountains in ten hours.

"As a firm, we’re committed to supporting local charities and we’re impressed at how this event is making a difference when it comes to research into Multiple Sclerosis.”

The team includes John Wilson from Keswick, Lindsay Malthouse from Braithwaite, Duncan Harty, Stephanie Bradley, Andrew Hill and Tom Scaife all from Carlisle, Martha Winn from Maryport, and Kath Sibley from Ulverston.

The 10in10 is an annual walking challenge created by Yvonne Booth, from Keswick. She started the event in 2011 in response to her husband Duncan’s diagnosis with the debilitating disease.

Every year 400 people take part in the event which has raised £169,000 over the years for research into multiple sclerosis.

Yvonne said: “It’s great to see teams taking part in the 10in10.

"I can see the camaraderie that people develop on the mountains and it’s great for team building.

"There’s nothing like a day on the fells to find out how people tackle a physical challenge. I’m really pleased Baines Wilson are taking part and I hope they enjoy it.”

This year’s route will head over Causey Pike, Sail, Crag Hill, Wandhope, Whiteless Pike, High Snockrigg, Robinson, Dale Head, High Spy and Maiden Moor.
