THE COUNTY OF CUMBRIA (VARIOUS ROADS IN THE SOUTH LAKELAND AREA) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) (NO.2) ORDER 2016
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Cumbria Highways to carry out resurfacing works ("the Works"), the County Council of Cumbria intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule, Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs as and when the temporary closures are in force. Phased works will not necessarily be done in numerical order, Cumbria Highways will ensure that local residents and the general public are informed of which roads are to be closed and when, nearer the time, A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.
Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:
1. Apply to any vehicle being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes, or the purpose of an undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into the section of road to which the order applies; and

2. Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and

3. Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the roads, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the roads; and

4. Apply to vehicles being used in connection with the Works.

Plans showing the locations and details of the alternative routes are available for public inspection at the offices of Cumbria Highways, Busher Walk, County Offices, Kendal, LA9 4RQ. Any queries to Cumbria Highways (0300 303 2992} quoting the 'Post Box' reference specified in the schedules. The Order will come into operation on 4 January 2017 and may continue in force for a period of up to eighteen months from that date as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed, although ft is anticipated that it will only be required for approx. 3 months in total.

From its junction with the B5343 extending in a north easterly, south easterly north easterly direction for a distance of approx. 12km. A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted section of the A593, C5005, B5285, B5286 and the unrestricted section of the A593.
2. Wansfell Road and Lake Road, Ambleside - Approx. Duration 2 weeks (Post Box Ref: 9669)

Wansfell Road - from its junction with Rothay Road extending in an easterly direction for a distance of approx. 230m; and Lake Road from its junction with Wansfell Road extending in a southerly direction for a distance of approx. 295 m.
A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted section of Lake Road, Borrans Road and Rothay Road.
3. B5278, near Backbarrow - Approx. Duration 3 weeks (Post Box Ref: 9670)

From its junction with the C5040 extending in a predominantly southerly then south easterly direction for a distance of approx. 23km A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted section of the B5278, B5277, BS27I, AS90 and the unrestricted section of the BS278.
4. A685, near Kendal - Approx. Duration 3 weeks (Post Box Ref: 9671) From its junction with the C5067 extending in a south westerly direction for a distance of approx. 13km.

A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted section of the A685, Sandylands Road, A684, B62S7 and the unrestricted section of the A685.
5. A684, near Sedbergh - Approx. Duration 10 days (Post Box Ref: 9672) From its junction with the CSI0I extending in a south westerly and north westerly direction for a distance of approx. 1.4km

A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted section of the A684, Sandylands Road, A68S, A683 and the unrestricted section of the A684.
6. A684, Garsdale, near Sedbergh - Approx. Duration 4 weeks (Post Box Ref: 9673)

From a point adjacent to the property known as "Hallbank" extending in an overall south easterly direction for a distance of approx. 7km.
