Barrow in Furness, Various Roads, Consolidation and provision of speed limits

THE COUNTY OF CUMBRIA
(VARIOUS ROADS IN THE BOROUGH OF BARROW-IN-FURNESS)
(CONSOLIDATION AND PROVISION OF SPEED LIMITS) ORDER 2023

1. Cumbria County Council hereby give notice that on 10 January 2023 it made the above Order under Section 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

2. The Order will come into operation on 23 January 2023 and its effect will be to: -
(a) Introduce a 20 mph speed limit on the following roads in Lindal-in-Furness (which are presently subject to 30mph due to the presence of street lighting): -
The entire lengths of Low Farm Close, Church Close, Guards Road,Drovers Court, The Green, Pit Lane from its junction with The Green to a point 368m north of that junction, U6099 from its junction with the Guards Road to a point 93m west of that junction.
(b) Extend the 30 mph speed limit on Rakesmoor Lane, Barrow-in-Furness, from its junction with Bank Lane for a distance of 244m in a northerly direction;
(c) Replace the existing 40 mph speed limit on Ulverston Road, Dalton-in-Furness with a 30 mph speed limit; and
(d) Introduce a 40 mph speed limit on Ulverston Road, Dalton-in-Furness, from a point 150m north-east of its junction with Urswick Road, to its junction with Dalton Roundabout.

3. Full details of the Order, together with a statement of the Council's reasons for making the Order, will be on deposit for public inspection at:-
(i) Barrow Library, Ramsden Square, Barrow-in-Furness, LA 14 1LL;
(ii) At the offices of the undersigned, and
(iii) on the Council's website using the following link: -https://new.cumbria.gov.uk/parking-streets-and-transport/streets-roads-and-pavements/road-maintenance-closures-and-improvements/proposed-traffic-regulation-orders-tros,
and may otherwise be obtained by emailing kim.baxter@cumbria.gov.uk.

4. If you wish to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or any instrument made there under has not been complied with in relation to the Order, you may within six weeks of 10 January 2023 apply to the High Court for this purpose.
