(C500I KIRKSTONE ROAD, AMBLESIDE) (HELVELLYN TRIATHLON) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF MOTOR VEHICLES) ORDER 2022
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to facilitate the holding of part of the Helvellyn Triathlon ("the Event") near Ambleside, the County Council of Cumbria has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any motor vehicle from proceeding along that section of the C5001 Kirkstone Road, Ambleside from its junction with the A59I 'The Falls', in Ambleside, extending to its junction with the A592 'Kirkstone Pass Inn'.
A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. A suitable alternative route for motor vehicles will be signed and available as follows:
Southwest Bound motor vehicles: via the A592 to Cooks House Corner, A591 towards Ambleside, along Lake Road, Wansfell Road, Rothay Road, Compston Road, A591 Rydal Road and the unrestricted section of the C5001.
Northeast Bound motor vehicles: via the unrestricted section of the C5001, A591 Lake Road and A592 from Cook House Corner to the Kirkstone Pass Inn.
Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:
1. Apply to any motor vehicle being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes, or the purpose of an undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into the section of road to which the order applies; and
2. Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and
3. Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the roads, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the roads; and
4. Apply to motor vehicles being used in connection with the Event.

The Order will come into operation on 11 September 2022 and may continue in force for a maximum period of up to three days from that date as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed, however it will only be required for the duration of the Event which is likely to be between 0930 hours and 1230 hours on Sunday 11 September 2022
