The County Of Cumbria (Pennine Way And Currock Road, Carlisle And Mary Street, Longtown) (Temporary Traffic Regulation) Order 2022

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Cumbria Highways to carry out highways works ("the Works"), the County Council of Cumbria intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road: -

i.Pennine Way, Carlisle: From its junction with Springfield Road extending in an easterly direction for approx 450m. Alternative route: via the unrestricted section of Pennine Way, Edgehill Road, and Arnside Road. From 30 August 2022 for approx. ii days (Ref: CA-22-103) 2.Currock Road, Carlisle: From its junction with Currock Park Avenue extending in a northerly direction for approx. 405m. Alternative routes: -

North bound: via Boundary Road, St Nicholas Street, Botchergate, English Street, Victoria Viaduct, James Street, and the unrestricted section of Currock Road. South bound: via the unrestricted section of Currock Road, James Street, Victoria Viaduct, Devonshire Street, Lowther Street, Victoria Place, Spencer Street, Warwick Road, The Crescent, Botchergate, St Nicholas Street, and Boundary Road. From i 9 September 2022 for approx. 5 days (Ref: CA-22-106) 3. Mary Street, Longtown: From its junction with Burn Street extending in an easterly direction for approx. 450m. Alternative route: via the unrestricted sections of Mary Street and the CI003, A7, CI00I, and C i 006.
From i2 September 2022 for approx. 5 days (Ref: CA-22-i04)

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:

1. Apply to emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and

2. Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and

3. Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the roads, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the roads; and

4. Apply to vehicles being used in connection with the Works. Any queries to the Highways Hotline 0300 303 2992 or via the Cumbria County Council website. The references to quote are specified above.

The Order will come into operation on 30 August 2022 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as specified above and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
