Ellers Brow, Temporary Prohibiton of Vehicles

The County Of Cumbria (U5524 Ellers Brow, Skelwith And U5545 St Marys Lane, Ambleside) (Temporary Traffic Regulation) Order 2022

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Openreach to carry out utility works ("the Works"), the County Council of Cumbria intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following lengths of road:

1. U5524 Ellers Brow, Skelwith Bridge, from its eastern junction with the A593, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 30m;

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the U5524 Ellers Brow.
Duration: From 14 July 2022 for approx. 2 days.
2. U5545 St Marys Lane, Ambleside, from its junction with A593 Church Street to its junction with the U5544 The Slack, Ambleside.

Alternative Routes:
North Bound Vehicles: A593 Compston Road, A591 Rydal Road
and A593 Church Street.
South Bound Vehicles: via the A593 Church Street, A593
Compston Road and the U5554 The Slack. Duration: From 15 July 2022 for approx. 1 day.
A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.
Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall: (i)Apply to emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and (ii)Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and (iii)Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the road, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the road; and
(iv)Apply to vehicles being used in connection with the Works. Any queries to the Highways Hotline 0300 303 2992 or email

The Order will come into operation on 14 July 2022 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
