CUMBRIA COUNTY COUNCIL
THE COUNTY OF CUMBRIA
(VARIOUS ROADS, CARLISLE CITY & DISTRICT)
(CONSOLIDATION AND PROVISION OF SPEED LIMITS)
(NO. 8) ORDER 2022

1. Cumbria County Council hereby give notice that on 10 May 2022 it made the above Order under Section 84(1) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

2. The Order will come into operation on 16 May 2022 and its effect will be to consolidate the provisions of: -
The County of Cumbria (Various Roads, Carlisle City & District) (Consolidation and Provision of Speed Limits) (No. 7) Order 2017;
The County of Cumbria (Various Roads, Carlisle City & District) (Consolidation and Provision of Speed Limits) (No. 7) (Order 2017) Variation (No. 1) Order 2018;
The County of Cumbria (Various Roads, Carlisle City & District) (Consolidation and Provision of Speed Limits) (No. 7) (Order 2017) Variation (No. 2) Order 2020;
and The County of Cumbria (C1018 and U1145 Stockdalewath) (30 mph Speed Limit) Order 2020;
and introduce the following proposals, into one concise Order: -
(a) The introduction of 30 mph speed restrictions on the following roads in Aglionby:
U1306 Rosegate; U1331 Manor Croft, U1177( 102), U1177( 1010, Broomy Hill, U1426 the Strand, and Williams Pasture;
(b) The introduction of 30 mph speed restrictions on the U1179 Plains Road,
Wetheral (as an extension of the existing 30 mph which is in place due to the presence of street lighting); and on the C1038 Wetheral Pasture.
(c) The introduction of a 30 mph speed restriction on the C1025 Lanercost;
(d) The introduction of a 40 mph speed restriction on the C1038 Wetheral
Pasture, the B6263 between Wetheral and Cumwhinton and on the C1025 Lanercost.

4. If you wish to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or any instrument made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order, you may within six weeks of 10 May 2022 apply to the High Court for this purpose.
