Red Bank, Temporary Prohibition of Traffic

The County Of Cumbria (Red Bank, Grasmere) (Grasmere Gallop) (Temporary Traffic Regulation) Order 2022

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to facilitate the holding of the Grasmere Gallop Event ("the Event") in and around Grasmere, the County Council of Cumbria intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that section of Red Bank, Grasmere, from a point approx 140 metres west of its junction with the B5284 Church Stile, extending in a southerly direction for a total distance of approx. 2839 metres.

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available as follows:
South Bound Vehicles: via the unrestricted section of Red Bank, B5287 Langdale Road, Broadgate, Swan Lane, A591, Rydal Road, A593 Ambleside and B5343.
North Bound Vehicles: B5343, A593, A591 Rydal Road, B5287, Langdale Road

Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:
1. Apply to emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and

2. Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and

3. Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the road, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the road; and

quoting the reference SL22/E8 The Order will come into operation on 28 May 2022 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of three days from that date. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for 1 day on Saturday 28 May 2022 between 1100 hours and 1400 hours and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed
