A SERIES of events will be held across the region in March to launch the University of Cumbria’s new Business School.

They will include public lectures and workshops on subjects of interest to local people and the business community.

The events at Ambleside on March 11 will focus on banking and alternative currencies, with speakers from the United Nations and the Cumberland Building Society, while at Lancaster on March 14, Professor Malcolm MacIntosh of Griffith University, Australia will be delivering the keynote lecture.

The University of Cumbria’s associate dean for business, Stephen Bulman said: “We want to introduce a new vision of our Business School and the full range of courses, activities and support it can now offer.

“We have developed a new curriculum of undergraduate business and management courses, most launching in 2013, including degrees in accounting and finance, international business management, entrepreneurship and e-commerce, marketing management and aspects of computing, as well as an MBA with specialist routes for health professionals and police.”

Public lectures and workshops will take place at Ambleside on Monday 11 March, Carlisle on Tuesday 12 March and Lancaster on Thursday 14 March.
