United Utilities-owned house in north Cumbria to be sold at auction

A house being sold by water firm United Utilities is expected to fetch about £200,000 when it goes under the hammer later this month.

Cumwhinton House, a vacant three-bedroom detached house in Wetheral Pastures, will be up for grabs at an auction held by Eddisons.

The property occupies around 0.26 hectares in the small rural hamlet, which is between Cumwhinton and Wetheral.

Andrew Brown, of Eddisons auctioneers, said: “This is an imposing property which has retained some of its original features.

“I am sure this will be reflected in the interest it generates.”

It has a front living room, rear dining room, kitchen and ground floor bathroom, while the first floor contains three double bedrooms, while the outside has front, rear and side gardens.

The sale is set to take place at the Premier Inn at Trafford Park, Manchester, at 12.30pm on Tuesday, July 24.
