Ulverston man, 24, pleads guilty to child sex charge

AN Ulverston man who has admitted a sex offence has been told that all sentencing options will be open to a court when he is dealt with next month.

Jeffrey Steven Dixon, aged 24, of Bigland Drive, Ulverston, pleaded guilty at a Preston Crown Court hearing on Friday to a charge of sexual activity with a child on August 26 last year.

The charge concerns a teenage girl aged under 16.

The defendant has no previous convictions.

His case was adjourned for a pre-sentence report to be prepared on him by the probation service.

Dixon has been remanded on conditional bail to September 7.

Judge Stuart Baker told him: “Any offence involving sexual activity with a person under 16 years is a serious offence and it must be treated as such.

“At this stage, so far as sentencing is concerned, the court has a range of sentencing options. One of them is imprisonment.

“All the court’s options remain open”.

Dixon was told that he would have to sign the sex offenders’ register.
