Ulverston at centre of major business forum

THE great and good of Cumbrian businesses have come together for a special forum.
The Times economy of South Cumbria business forum is taking place in the Coronation Hall in Ulverston.
A panel of business leaders, including Greig Rooney, managing director of GlaxoSmithKline in Ulverston, MP John Woodcock and Peter Thornton, leader of South Lakeland District Council, is debating issues surrounding South Lakeland's industry.
Mr Rooney has described Ulverston as being 'ingrained' with the knowledge needed for GSK's new pharmaceutical plant while Mr Woodcock has emphasised the importance of the transport network to maintaining and attracting major businesses into the area.
However, the lack of superfast broadband has been described as 'social deprivation' compared to some areas of the UK.
Cllr Thornton has rallied against image of Cumbria as a tourist destination.
He said: "People see Cumbria as a great place to go on holiday but not to go and work.
"We have got to change that."

Great job Ulverston Business. It is really appreciable and give us a better opportunity to improve ourselves to knowing about technology variations.
