Two Maryport pubs have closed down.
The Crown Inn in Senhouse Street has closed and The Swan in Ellenborough is boarded up.
The Crown Inn has shut just 12 months after landlords Craig Porter and Susan Holmes arrived in town promising to turn it around.
Mr Porter said last night that he and his partner had found a hotel in Blackpool and decided to move on.
The owner of the property, Wayne Maxted of Stoke-on-Trent, was not available to comment.
In July 2001 the Crown underwent a £50,000 makeover by then owner George Hodgson.
In 2002 it was relaunched with a new brewery and new owners, Trish and David White, who had formerly run Leo’s Bar in Maryport.
By 2006 the pub was closed and up for sale again. It was bought by Mr Maxted and underwent another overhaul.
The next landlords lasted only a short while and the business underwent another refurbishment in 2011 and Mr Porter arrived.
The future of the pub is not known.
Meanwhile, The Swan in Ellenborough has been boarded up.
Owner Paul Quayle did not wish to comment other than to say that he and his wife Jeanette had tried to keep the pub going and it was a sad day for the community.
He thanked those who had supported the pub.
