Stobart Group enters CN business awards for first time

Haulage and logistics giant the Stobart Group has entered the CN Business Awards for the first time.

The Kingstown-based company has put in nominations in three categories – training and development, environmental awareness and innovation and technology.

Corporate affairs director Kate Willard said that in the innovation category the company had introduced a Stop, Think, Act programme in June 2010 which focused on accident prevention with a traffic light approach.

“Stobart Group chief executive Andrew Tinkler has always been an advocate of the importance of safety and reducing risk,” she said.

The company, which employs 5,000 people over 40 sites in Europe, has a purpose-built training academy used for all inductions and ongoing training, with full sized trucks and trailers.

Other companies such as Argos have followed suit.
