The restaurant has been opened to complement the service already offered at The Spice Club, on Main Street

The Balti Club, in Old Kings Arms Lane, is on the site of the former Indigo Indian restaurant.

Jimmy Haidur, who co-owns The Spice Club in Main Street with Brian Trengove, has gone into partnership with his brothers Abul Monsur, 29, Abul Kashim, 27, Mr Trengove and specialist chef Jamal Ahmed, 33.

Mr Haidur, 33, said: “We will serve the food in traditional Balti bowls which will give a different taste from a normal curry restaurant.

“The Spice Club does traditional curries but we want to keep it different.”

Balti houses originated in Birmingham in the 1970s and became popular in the 1980s and 1990s.
