Site manager wins award for work on Cumbrian housing scheme

A construction boss has been named one of the country’s top site managers for his work at a Cumbrian housing development.
Peter Robinson, from Briery Homes, has been recognised by the National House Building Council for his efforts at The Oaks in Longtown.
Mr Robinson is responsible for building one, two and three-bedroom new homes and bungalows at the development and has run the site since work started there more than two years ago.
He has worked in the construction sector for more than 30 years after starting as an apprentice plumber and heating engineer.
Mr Robinson said he was delighted to have been recognised but said it reflected the efforts of the whole construction team at The Oaks and within Briery Homes.
He said: “You rely on the whole team, from the architects through to all the different trades on the site to maintain the highest standards.”
Mr Robinson is among a number of site managers named the “top achievers” across the country.
They will now go through to the next stage of the organisation’s Pride In The Job awards for a prize at a ceremony in London early next year.
Pride in the Job rewards the best site managers who are responsible for managing the construction of new homes from start to finish.
They are selected from more than 13,000 site managers across the UK.
They must score highly for the quality of workmanship on their site at every stage of the build, from foundations through to structure, fixings and surface finishes. They must also demonstrate excellent leadership, technical expertise, robust health and safety processes and what is termed a certain “X” factor to demonstrate the way they take pride in their job.
Chris Middlebrook, Briery Homes’ commercial director, said the company was delighted.
