ONE of the leading lights at Sellafield has been grilled by apprentices.

The company’s Brathay Apprentice Challenge team spoke to deputy managing director George Beveridge as part of National Apprentice Week.

The team was joined by members of the Sellafield Apprentice Council and Mr Beveridge spoke to the group about the importance of apprentices in the firm.

He was particularly impressed with the schedule of activities planned throughout National Apprentice Week as part of the Brathay Challenge. Mr Beveridge said: “It was great to hear first hand the experiences of some of our apprentices and the great work they are doing to promote apprenticeships.

“Apprenticeships are becoming more valued again and I certainly think they make up a vital part of the Sellafield Ltd workforce.”

Daniel Pyne, electrical and instrumental apprentice and council member, said: “I enjoyed having the opportunity to speak to a member of the executive team and hearing how apprenticeships benefit the business.”
