STUDENTS from around the globe have been studying at a Lake District school during the summer break.

Windermere School has been hosting its English Language Summer School scheme since the first week in July and it concludes next week.

Some 70 students, from countries including Spain, the Ukraine, Saudi Arabia and Japan, have taken part in the English tuition programme at the independent boarding and day school.

In their free time students have got involved in sports and leisure activities in the Lakes.

They have visited Bowness, Dove Cottage and attractions in the local area. The group have also ventured to Blackpool, Manchester United and York during the organised weekend trips.

Angela Fergie, the manager of Windermere International Summer School, said: “Windermere International Summer School is growing year on year, attracting an average of eight different nationalities on each of the three courses running during July and August this year.

“It is so successful because of its’ unique Lake District location and watersports facilities, coupled with the fantastic team of English teachers and activity staff that work relentlessly to ensure our overseas students learn, enjoy and develop personally.

“Many students return year after year and for 2012 we have added an even wider variety of activities and changed our English tuition format to ensure that we continue to evolve and provide an experience that is unforgettable for all involved.”
