UNSUNG heroes of tourism are being urged to step forward and receive acknowledgement for their behind- the-scenes work.
West Cumbria Tourism is appealing for nominations for Unsung Tourism Heroes to mark this year’s English Tourism Week.
The organisation is urging local businesses to put forward those who work hard behind the scenes to really make a difference to the Western Lake District’s vital tourism industry.
Anyone working in West Cumbria can be nominated, from museum volunteers, event assistants and agricultural show committee members to taxi drivers, chefs and hotel cleaning staff and from the nominations received, West Cumbria Tourism will select the best candidates and reward their dedication.
Ten unsung heroes will be treated to a VIP You’re Welcome to the Western Lake District workshop at the award-winning Trout Hotel, in Cockermouth, in May where they will be wined and dined, provided with a goodie bag and awarded with a Western Lake District VIP Ambassador certificate.
Katie Read, West Cumbria Tourism manager, said: “Our West Cumbria Tourism heroes will become VIP ambassadors for this area and will be a shining example of what makes our tourism industry so special.”
English Tourism Week runs from the March 16 to 24 and is a week-long celebration of events showcasing the quality and vibrancy of England’s visitor experiences and the value of its tourism industry.
