Rising stars are giving hope for the future of business in Cumbria.

Jeni Banks, managing director of networking organisation May Fifteen Ltd, has been nominated in the Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in this year’s CN Group Business Awards.

Kristy Giblin, director of Simply Bows and Chair Covers on Scotland Road in Carlisle, has also been nominated in the same category.

May Fifteen has become one of Cumbria’s most popular networking organisations, while Kristy’s high quality chair covers are hired out across Cumbria to grace weddings and corporate events.

Meanwhile, Charles Williams Thwaytes, the 20-year-old owner and founder of Penrith-based Charles William Shirts, has also been nominated.

The success of Cumbria’s young entrepreneurs gives fresh energy to the county’s business scene even in the challenging cash climate and a glimpse of who could be among the county’s key commercial players in the not too distant future.

The business awards have been organised by CN Group, publishers of The Cumberland News. The awards, in association with Barclays and Invest in Cumbria, acknowledge the achievements of business in Cumbria.
