CUMBRIA has four nominees in the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence.
This tourism contest is designed to reward best practice in the industry.
FSC Blencathra Centre, at Threlkeld, is in the sustainable tourism award, the Waternook Estate, Ullswater, has been shorlisted for self-catering holiday provider of the year, Park Cliffe Camping and Caravan Estate, Windermere, is in the holiday park or holiday village of the year shortlist and The Lake District China Forum is nominated for the GREAT China welcome of the year prize. This year saw the highest number of applications ever submitted for the awards, and the 67 finalists were selected from almost 600 applications in 22 categories.
Tim Foster, head of centre at FSC Blencathra Centre, said: “This is quite amazing following on from our success in 2016 as the Cumbria Tourism Sustainable Tourism Winner and reflects well on our organisations commitment to sustainability.”
The winners will be announced at a ceremony on Monday, April 24 at the Hilton Waldorf, London.
