A NEW event dedicated to local produce is coming to Carlisle next month.

The Local Food Show has been organised showcase the best of local produce from Cumbria, Northumbria and south west Scotland.

This event will be held at H&H Borderway Mart in Rosehill and is aimed at members of the public as well as the tourism industry, hoteliers, B&B owners, public sector organisations and schools.

It will include breakout sessions covering a including how to compile a menu to the use of social media in business.There will also be cookery demonstrations.

A spokeswoman for the event said: "It is fantastic that so many of our local producers have signed up to showcase the best of what our region has to offer in food and drink.

"This is a real cross border initiative and it demonstrates that the ‘buy local’ message is strong. We want to strengthen links between the tourism industry, public sector organisations and local producers. It is important that local producers can engage with larger organisations and this is the purpose of this event.’

Sponsors include accountancy firm Armstrong Watson, food manufacturers McVitie's and Nestle and Carlisle City Council. It has been organised through events firm Ivention.
