Windermere tourist Treetop Trek celebrates its fifth birthday today.

The treetop adventure centre has welcomed over 300,000 visitors to its Lake District site - at Brockhole - since opening its doors in 2012.

It features a 350m long canopy tour a 250m triple zip-wire through the canopy down to the shore of Windermere. This has proved popular with famous faces, newly-weds and even the Herdy sheep.

The venue's Mini Trek was the first woodland aerial adventure course to be designed for children as young as five-years-old.

Mike Turner, managing director, said: “We’ve come such a long way since launching five years ago and the time has flown by.

"We’re thrilled the people of Cumbria have supported us so wholeheartedly over the last five years and we wouldn't be in the position we are today without them. Everyone here at Treetop Trek has had a ball and we can't wait to welcome even more adventurers over the next five years.”

Treetop Trek has also picked up a host of awards over the years including a VisitEngland Gold Award for Excellence and a Cumbria Tourism Award.

The huge popularity of the site has seen the company undergo exponential growth - Although keeping its heart firmly in the Lake District, Treetop Trek now operates parks in Yorkshire, Manchester and Wales.

Its Manchester site was officially opened this week by comedian Peter Kay.
