The results of the 2017 Cumbria Tourism Awards are due to be announced today.

The shortlist of finalists was made last month, with the winners in 17 categories soon to be revealed.

Cartmel Racecourse will host the event with the awards celebrating the huge range and diversity of the tourism industry in Cumbria.

Hotels, holiday parks, public houses, visitor attractions, events and businesses are amongst the contenders.

With the Visit England Awards for Excellence event to take place next year, many will go on to represent Cumbria.

Ian Stephens of Cumbria Tourism said: "This year has been another fantastic year for entries with exceptional quality shown across all of the categories.

"This demonstrates that businesses in Cumbria continue to offer world class levels of quality, service and experience."

Mr Stephens added: "It's been a tough job for the shortlisting panel but we are now able to announce the successful finalists for the award.

"I would like to congratulate each and every business for making it to this years final, and for their continuing hard work and commitment to tourism in the county."
