Footballing skills were put to the test to raise money for a charity which helps those affected by life-limiting illness.

Young professional staff working at the Sellafield site teamed up to raise £1,000 for Hospice at Home West Cumbria which is celebrating its 30-year anniversary.

The workers from Sellafield Ltd, Morgan Sindall and Arup are employed on the £1.1bn Infrastructure Strategic Alliance (ISA) contract which is providing infrastucture assets to the nuclear site.

They held a fund-raising soccer match between members of ISA, a race night and raffle at Whitehaven Amateur Football Club.

The ISA develops workers through its Young Professionals Network (YPN) part of which encourages employees to work with charities.

Hayley Musk, YPN member said: “It’s incredibly rewarding to be able to raise money for such a worthy cause. Hospice at Home West Cumbria helps so many people in the local area and the YPN saw this as an opportunity to give something back."

The ISA provides Sellafield Ltd with the means to deliver a programme of infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges and car parks at Sellafield. It is also involved in the distribution of steam, electricity, water, compressed air, bulk chemical storage and distribution.
