THE National Nuclear Laboratory's chief science and technology officer Andrew Sherry has been appointed to the board of a leading body.
He has become one of four partner directors to the Henry Royce Institute Governing Board. The other three are from the universities of Sheffield, Leeds and London.
This is an organisation which looks into research of "advanced materials" such as those used in the nuclear industry.
He will be responsible to the strategy and delivery of its goals and will that the organisation delivers strong research facilities.
Professor Sherry said: "The UK is a world leader in advanced materials and the Sir Henry Royce Institute provides the focus for the creative research, collaborative development and commercial innovation to create major economic impact for the UK. I am delighted to be a part of the leadership team that will drive this agenda forward."
