The £4.1m Cumbria Innovations Platform has been designed for inventive and innovative Cumbrian SMEs, in any sector, keen to diversify their offering and wanting to accelerate growth by accessing resources based within local universities.
Part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund, business support is on hand regardless of where the SME or organisation is within its innovation cycle. The idea is to tap into and utilise the resources based within Lancaster University and the University of Cumbria across a range of disciplines, including:
• Biology, biomedicine and forensics
• Chemistry and physical sciences
• Conservation
• Computing
• Engineering
• Environmental science
• Health and sport
• Law and criminology
• Management science
There are many benefits for SMEs using the Cumbria Innovations Platform: it reduces risk in undertaking research and development, accelerates innovation and business growth, and supports the eventual commercialization of new products and services.
