THE man in charge of Eden Brewery has travelled to Japan to showcase his range of ales

Jason Hill, its managing director, is in Tokyo for FoodEx Japan, which runs from tomorrow (March 7) to Friday.

Eden has been chosen as one of 12 international drinks producers to serve at the pop-up bar at the event, which is attended by over 77,000 people and exhibitors from nearly 80 countries.

He is also set to meet potential distributors as well as a local brewery.

Last year Eden, based in Brougham, collaborated with Hakuba Brewery in Japan, to create Tokyo Express, a pale made with Japanese Matcha Green Tea. This year the two will produce Yuzu Juice, a blonde ale made with yuzu, a citrus fruit native to Japan.

Mr Hill said: “Having our beer featured at the bar at FoodEx is a great chance to put our brand in front of some important influencers and decision makers in the Japanese food and drink industry, as well as those from further afield.

“Cumbria is a very saturated market for beer due to the large number of breweries in the county. Our aim is to grow by appealing to national customers and select international markets. This year’s trip to Japan is a really important part of this work and I am confident it will bear fruit.”
