A startup business has won its fourth major award, less than 18 months after it was set up.

Lakes and Lambs, a children's outdoor clothing company based in Plumpton, between Carlisle and Penrith, has been recognised in the Smallish Design Awards 2017.

It took silver in the children’s fashion category for best newcomer.

The parenting magazine Smallish, hosts the annual awards to ‘recognise style and innovation’ across the categories of fashion, lifestyle and travel.

The firm was started by Jannike Taylor, 31, who assists her husband Ben, in running an agricultural contracting business. They are parents to two children.

It produces children’s outdoor boilersuits and is launching new products in time for Christmas.

Mrs Taylor was born in Sweden but has lived in the Penrith area since she was seven.

She said: “We are surprised and delighted to be recognised in the Smallish awards. As a very small and new brand we are thrilled that our products and ethos have stood out to the judges. We are extremely honoured.”

Since it’s launch, the company has also been recognised in the Made for Mums Awards 2017, the Junior Design Awards 2016 and the Rural Business Awards 2016.
