A love of Cumbria and the desire to work for the family firm brought Tom Burnham full circle.

Tom, 35, is managing director of print and graphic design firm Cerberus which was started by his parents Trish and Clive Burnham 30 years ago.

Trish and Clive set up Cerberus in Fairview, Kirkby Stephen with a darkroom and lithography press.

Over the years it has developed into a bespoke, high quality digital printing operation.

Tom moved back to the county from Leeds with wife Laura where he worked as an environmental manager with a large construction company.

The couple now have a nine-month-old son, Alexis.

Tom said: "Laura and I are both from Cumbria and decided to come back to help my mum and dad in the firm becoming managing director.

"I love being back here. The lifestyle is so much better than speeding around all the time like I was with my job in Leeds.

"Now it takes me 20 minutes to get to work.

"Also it is good to bring up Alexis in the area which Laura and I grew up in."

Tom said the company had developed over the years into the a general business printing firm which also does wedding stationery.

It also works with artists producing high quality prints and cards.

It now operates from premises at Skywalk House in Kirkby Stephen where his parents are still part of the team along with Laura who works part-time.

Cerberus also employs a young designer a part-time.

He said the company was proud of its reputation of being approachable and versatile with an eye on the needs of the community.

Tom said: "We are developing all the time and are launching a new website. To me the challenge of running a business is new but I love working with customers. We are proud to have a very loyal customer base."
