CARLISLE-based firm Carrs Billington Agriculture has announced a takeover of Horse and Pet Warehouse in Ayr.

The company - which supplies farming products and services - has bought the entire issued share capital of the Scottish pet and equine supplier and the new acquisition will become a Carrs Billington Country Store.

The Cumbrian firm - which has more than 30 stores in the north of England and southern Scotland - already had a small retail unit at Ayr livestock market, taken over as part of a deal which was completed in May 2015.

This new site - in Ayr's Heathfield Industrial Estate - is expected to provide Carrs Billington with a platform to extend its business in Scotland.

Rae Tomlinson, managing director of Carrs Billington, said: "This acquisition is another great step forward for Carrs Billington and I am thrilled with Carrs Billington's development in Scotland and this addition will contribute to the ongoing expansion and success of the business."
