Seven more branches of the Cumberland will partially reopen for one a day a week.

The regional building society said as staff availability continues to improve, it has been able to look at how it can reopen its centres in towns across the county.

In March, the building society closed 14 of its branches in response to the coronavirus outbreak and moved temporarily centralised services to its regional hubs.

Ten days ago, it announced the partial reopening of six branches and said today's announcement meant the majority of its branches would be open at least one day a week.

Workington's Murray Road branch remains closed, but its nearby Pow Street building society is open and Carlisle's English Street branch closed earlier this year for a major refurbishment.

The following branches will reopen, week commencing May 4:

  • Cleator Moor, Maryport, Dalston and Gretna every Monday from 10am to 2pm;
  • Egremont every Wednesday from 10am to 2pm;
  • Longtown and Denton Holme every Thursday from 10am to 2pm.

It said its full network of ATMS was available as normal.
