Apprenticeships are proving their worth at a Carlisle firm which has seen two young people win promotion.

Georgie Robinson and Cameron Johnston, both taken on by H&H Insurance Brokers in February last year as apprentices, have now taken up new positions as trainee account holders in the customer administrative support team.

Georgie, 23, a former pupil of Richard Rose Central Academy, and Cameron, 22, who went to Trinity School, studied through the Institute of Insurance and successfully completed level one in October last year.

Level two will be awarded this month with their promotion meaning they start their level three studies later this year.

Georgie said: “H&H Insurance Brokers are a highly respected company and offered a comprehensive training programme.

"I joined as an apprentice as I needed a career with prospects and felt this role would provide me the opportunity to do this – and it has. Although there is still a lot of studying and learning to do, I’m chuffed to be offered the trainee account handling role.”

Cameron added: "H&H have a genuine interest in training and development and I am thrilled to have undertaken an apprenticeship which has now led me to become a key member of the team.

"There are so many elements to insurance and its fascinating to learn about the many different considerations.

"It’s very complexity illustrates how important it is for clients to assess their requirements on a regular basis. I learnt so much in the first year and I’m definitely looking forward to taking the next step of my career ladder.”

Paul Graham, operations director, said customer service was an important driver in the business making it vital for the company to have a knowledgeable, professional and qualified team to support clients.

He said: "Over the years the insurance industry has had to become more specialised and has had to adapt itself to the ever-changing marketplace, in particular with regulatory requirements.

"As a company, we believe in investing in our people to ensure we provide the best customer experience and much needed specialist advice.Training plays a crucial role in this.

“Georgie and Cameron have proven to be very capable and have applied themselves with dedication and enthusiasm. In recognition of their hard work, they have advanced within the company and will continue to receive strong support for furthering their knowledge and experience. They are a great asset to our team."
