The Cumberland has announced the appointment of Mark Stanger as a new non-executive director.
The Cumberland is the UK’s 10th largest building society and Cumbria’s largest financial organisation.
Mark Stanger lives in Workington and joins the Cumberland with over 30 years’ experience in the accountancy sector.
Mr Stanger is a senior partner and managing partner with Gibbons, the West Cumbrian-based chartered accountancy practice.
He is also a member of the board of governors at Lakes College in Lillyhall and, until recently, had held the role of chairman of the board for six years.
Trevor Hebdon, the Cumberland’s chairman, said, "I am delighted to welcome Mark to our team.
"His current accountancy and audit experience, knowledge and skills will add great value to the work of the society's board, as well as his in-depth understanding of the economic and social well-being of our operating area.
"I look forward to working closely with Mark to further develop our business."
