The new man helping to lead the organisation for Cumbria’s chartered accountants wants more fun brought to the association.
Michael Peile has become the joint chairman for the Cumberland Society of Chartered Accountants.
During his term of office he hopes to increase the popularity of the society as well as ensuring all the events organised are fun and memorable and get as many people involved as possible.
He joins existing chairmen Sophie Tyson and Louise Brown.
Michael has worked at David Allen Chartered Accountants in Dalston for more than 11 years and has said that he always wanted a career in accountancy.
Now an associate with the firm, he comes from a farming family, and wanted to be able to work within the agricultural community but without actually farming. David Allen offered him summer work experience when he was 16.
His intentions were always to go back to sixth form and continue on to university because he believed this was the only way to develop a career in accountancy.
However, during his work experience he realised that there was another route to becoming a Chartered Accountant.
At the end of his work placement David Allen offered him a job and an apprenticeship to complete the AAT qualification.
He was then offered a chartered training contract, completing his final exams when he was 21. Aged 27 he heads the Agricultural Department of the firm.
