Sellafield has appointed Tony Price as executive officer to support the drive for improvements, focusing on its legacy ponds and silos programme.

He is a chartered engineer and a fellow of the Energy Institute who sits on the board of Britain’s Energy Coast.

This is his second spell at Sellafield.

He was director of decommissioning and major projects from 2001 to 2007 and was also chairman of the low-level-waste repository site licence company. He left to become chief operating officer of Redhall Group then became director of major projects at Atkins in 2010.

Mr Price has almost 40 years’ experience in the nuclear, oil and gas industries where he has held roles at operational and board level.

He was appointed as an independent adviser to Shell International’s project academy board in 2006.

And he was appointed to the steering board for the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor programme in Cadarache, France in 2010.

Mr Price and his wife Lynda, who live at Holmrook, moved to Cumbria from Vietnam in 1995.
