Companies and groups associated with the Phoenix Business Centre in Phoenix Road, Barrow, will be able to take advantage of extra assistance when it comes to promoting their goods and services.

Local expert, Kim Smith, who runs South Lakes Public Relations, will head up the media hub and be on hand to offer marketing help to all occupants and regular training room hosts.

Ms Smith will have a physical presence in the centre and her aim is to support start-up and established businesses across the area.

She said: “I will be providing practical advice for businesses based in the centre to help them achieve their marketing goals – that could be to help promote their business to a wider audience, writing copy for adverts, newsletters, brochures or websites and advising them on the best medium to use to achieve the greatest results.

“All occupants of the centre will receive a free one-hour marketing and PR consultation. This will give businesses the opportunity to evaluate their current marketing activity and see if, together, we can make it work smarter for them.”

Companies associated with the centre include Furness Enterprise, TKM Construction Recruitment, Ropax Ltd, McCaffrey Mortgages and GB Building Solutions.

It is hoped the extra service will encourage local businesses to grow and make the public in South Cumbria aware of the services and produce available on their doorstep.

Fiona Cloherty, business centre manager, said: “Having such a dedicated media hub is unique for a business centre and I am sure all our occupants will benefit from Kim’s expertise.

“Our occupants join me in welcoming Kim into the centre and we are all looking forward to her invaluable media support.”

As well as having its own dedicated media hub, the Phoenix Business Centre is also the base for the Cumbria Growth Hub, which is a new initiative to help local businesses increase their competitiveness.

The centre will act as a focal point for the community who will be able to use its services.
