Barrow mayor, Councillor Wendy Maddox, formally opened the Mane Man on stall 30 in Barrow Indoor Market last Wednesday.

The barbers is the brainchild of qualified hairdresser, Pamela Gibson, and offers a wide choice of styles and services for both men and boys.

Having worked alongside many notable stylists, Pamela is looking forward to using her skills to spruce up Barrow’s boys.

She said: “There are lots of hairdressers in Barrow, but very few barbers. So I decided to branch out and open a stall specialising in men’s hair cuts.”

Ann Taylforth, Barrow town centre and festivals manager, said: “I am sure this stall will be very popular and it is great to see a new business in the market.

“The indoor market offers shoppers an excellent choice and I would urge those who may have not visited the market for a while to come along and support local small businesses.

“Barrow markets offer an excellent opportunity for any budding entrepreneurs to start up a business without the overhead of huge rents.”

Clients can drop in on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, or pre-book by telephoning 07845 658 997.

Gents’ cuts cost £6, pensioners’ are £4 and children’s £5. There is a “Dads ‘n’ Lads” offer on Saturdays from 10am until noon. It costs £10 for both cuts.
