Manufacturing is focus for Barrow meeting’s speakers

AN open meeting organised by Furness Enterprise was due to be staged in Barrow today.

The event at The Forum will see presentations from Harry Knowles, executive director of Furness Enterprise, on Unleashing Growth in Coastal Furness – a look ahead to emerging opportunities in 2014 and an address from guest speaker Terry Scuoler, chief executive of manufacturers’ organisation EEF, on The Importance of UK Manufacturing to the UK’s Economy.

Mr Scuoler says he has a vision and commitment to delivering a resurgence in the UK’s manufacturing and engineering sectors and sits on the board of SEMTA, the Sector Skills Council for Manufacturing, the University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Institute and is a member of the Apprentice Ambassador Network.

The programme will see a welcome by Steve Pryer, chairman of Furness Enterprise, scheduled for 5.30pm, followed by the two presentations and then a question time panel.
