Keswick mountain film festival nominated in CN business awards

The world’s largest mountain film festival has been nominated in the CN Group Business Awards.

The Kendal Mountain Festival Community Interest Company (CIC) has entered the “small business of the year” category”.

The festival in November aims to “inspire more people to explore, enjoy and represent mountains, the wilderness and their cultures”.

Mountain and adventure films from around the world are shown to more than 7,000 people over four days in six venues throughout Kendal.

The festival includes an international film competition, with 60 shortlisted from a typical entry of 150.

Winning at Kendal has described as “a BAFTA for adventure film makers”.

The event also includes the world’s largest mountain lecture and live events programme. It draws in the elite of the world’s mountaineers to share their adventures, including Reinhold Messner, Sir Chris Bonington and Ueli Steck.

The festival hosts the Boardman-Tasker Award for mountain literature, a book festival and art and photographic exhibitions.
